Zhu Chen

Zhu-ChenQatari Grandmaster and Women’s Grandmaster born in China. Women’s World Champion from 2001 to 2004. She got her first world title in 1988 by winning the World Girls’ U12. Chinese Women’s Champion in 1992. Arab Women’s Champion in 2011.

In 1994, won the title of Asian Junior Girls’ Champion combined with the title of World Junior Girls’ Champion. In 1996, she succeeded once more to be the World Junior Girls’ Champion.

A member of the Chinese women’s national team in the Olympiads sonce 1996, she contributed to the golden performance of the Chinese Women’s Team during the Olympiads of 1998, 2000 and 2002 and had the best overall female performance in the 2000 Olympiad in Istanbul.

Being among the favorites, she did not do too well in the 2000 World Championship and World Cup but took an impressive revenge by being crowned Women’s World Champion in 2001 after beating Alexandra Kostaniuk in the final. A few months later, she achieved another performance by eliminating the World Champion Ponomariov in the first round of the FIDE Grand Prix 2002 of Dubai.

In 2000, she married one of the best Arabic players Al-Modaihki from Qatar and is playing since 2006 the Olympiad with the Qatari Men’s Team.
She also has collected a gold medal with the Team of Monte-Carlo in the European Women’s Cup in 2007.
