Kupreichik Viktor Davidovich (03.07.1949-22.05.2017)

KupreichikBelarus Grandmaster (1980), coach and journalist. Belarus Champion in 1972 and 2003. European Senior Rapid Chess Champion in 2010 and European Senior Vice Champion in 2010.

Kupreichik played in eight USSR Championships between 1969 and 1987, but scored much less than 50%. In his first three USSR Championships in 1969, 1974 and 1976, he came last.  His critics said: he is talented but undisciplined.  He was equal fifth in 1979 and equal sixth in 1980-1.

Best results: first or equal first iat Wijk aan Zee II 1977, Kirovakan 1978, Reykjavik 1980, Plovdiv 1980, Medina del Campo 1980, Hastings 1981-82, Sverdlovsk 1984, Zenica 1985, Winnipeg and Minsk 1986, Malmoe 1988, Esbjerg and Val Maubuee 1989, Rimavska Sobota and Bandenweiler Open 1990, Cattolica 1992, Bad Worishofen Open 1997 and Regensburg Open in 1999.

With the Belarusian national team, he has participated in six Olympiads between 1994 and 2002.

Peak rating: 2575 in 1981.
