Polgar Zsuzsa (19.04.1969)

Polgar-zU.S. Grandmaster (1991) and Woman Grandmaster (1984) born in Hungary. Women’s World Champion 1997-1999, she did not defend her title. Winner of 4 Women’s World Championships (Under 16, Blitz, Rapid, and Classical). 5-time Olympic Champion with 10 overall medals (5 Gold, 4 Silver, 1 Bronze).

Zsuzsa learned to play chess when she was four. Was the sixth in the 1979 Hungarian Championship, the second in 1986 and the first in 1991. World Champion U16.

She retired then from chess life but came back in 2004 heading the US Women’s Olympic team to secure the second place at the Women Olympiad and the Women’s Cup in 2006.
